Robby wrote the lyrics to this song in his dad's basement in December 2007, some basic poetry about religion and an ultimate direction with your life typical post high school kid problems.
For a very long time the lyric sheet just sat on top of the printer and then they were brought to a band practice where they went from just a simple E C G D riff that Robosag fiddled out one night into an epic 6/7 minute long jam filled with different styles, reggae breakdown and a 'grand' ending. The original version was even longer with extended trombone solo, this studio cut is just over 5 minutes... Enjoy!
lyrics
I can see the shining stars in my head
Mellow, softly, whispering to the dead
but as I open my eyes again
I can see the reality within my bed
My faith is not secure
But what the hell am I waiting for?
Why do I always wait for more?
Take me back and show me what I've done wrong
The trials I face end up with the same, sad song
And when I make my amends again
The laws that bide me to my doom will rule instead
I want to change my past mistakes
Having them around is a thing that I've come to hate
I carry a heavy thought in my head
I try to lighten the load but it piles on like lead
My friends have gone to waste
So now I'm here and I don't know what to
Make of my life
To just sit around so long and when it is time to figure out
What its all about
and now I see why it always seems to bring me back
To bring me back
I feel like I'm always under attack
I can see the shining stars in my head
Mellow, softly, whispering to the dead
but when I open my eyes again
I can see the reality within my bed
My faith is not secure
But what the hell am I waiting for?
in my life?
To just lay around so long and when its time to figure out
What its all about
and now I see why it always seems to bring me back
to bring me back
I feel like I'm always under attack!
